12341The British Fashion Awards, supported by Swarovski, will take place on 9th December at The Royal Courts of Justice. The shortlist of nominees for six out of eleven categories has just been announced this Friday, including the Emerging Talent Awards. Winners in other categories, notably the main prize Designer of the Year, will be announced during the awards ceremony.

Swarovski Emerging Talent Award for Accessories:

  • Camilla Skovgaard, a Danish shoe designer who presented her debut collection in 2006 and has since then built a strong reputation for stunningly unique footwear.
  • Holly Fulton, winner of Young designer of the Year award at the Scottish Fashion Awards, whose work is deeply inspired by Art Deco architecture.
  • Jessica McCormack, a jewellery designer who creates unique diamond-theme pieces like miniature sculptures.
  • Maria Francesca Pepe, who introduced the concept of “Jewellery-Wear” – for both Fashion Jewellery and Clothing that become interchangable items and essential pieces for a New Luxury ideal.

Swarovski Emerging Talent Award for Ready-to-Wear:

  • Mark Fast, a 28 year old Canadian born knitwear designer who designs by hand on a domestic knitting machine and whose work is formed onto the body as he knits. He has also devised innovative stitching techniques, blending lycra with viscose, angora or wool.
  • Meadham Kirchhoff, a London duo whose style, as Vogue described it, is like “a sophisticated dialogue of hard versus soft, tough versus fragile”.
  • Peter Pilotto, whose label actually features two designers, Peter Pilotto and Christopher de Vos. They are both fascinated with a scientific view of nature, which reflects in their collections.

The Designer Brand Award shortlist features Burberry and Mulberry, alongside Pringle of Scotland.

As for the Model category, this year’s three nominees are the it-girls Daisy Lowe and Georgia Jagger, and Victoria’s Secret model Rosie Huntington-Whiteley.

Furthermore, to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the London Fashion Week, the British Fashion Council introduced a one-off award to recognise an individual who embodies the spirit of London and is an international ambassador for the capital’s fashion industry.
