Ashish Gupta introduced his Autumn Winter 2015 collection with Jane Fonda’s character’s words in Klute, the iconic 70’s movie “You know there’s nothing wrong, nothing… nothing is wrong. I think the only way that any of us can ever be happy is to let it all hang out… you know… do it all, and fuck it.” Living up to these strong words, Ashish rolled out a fabulous collection, quite sexed up, definitely powerful.
Inspired by Bree Daniels’ fierce attitude and cool style, the silhouettes revolved around over the knee laced red patent boots – quite a statement in themselves – teamed with faux-fur patchwork coats and trousers, lace-trimmed boxers and camisole dresses, oversized sequined camo parkas and harem pants, and stunning bleached studded denim.
Ashish was my final show of the season, and as often, my favourite without a doubt. Refreshing, reenergising, empowering. The designer confided into Dazed & Confused after the show: “I think women should have a right to dress the way they want and feel sultry and empowered – you could call these pieces a celebration of femininity and freedom. I’m pro ‘Free The Nipple’ – get your tits out if you want to!” Amen to that.
