Entitled « Patchwork, Pattern & Prints », the anxiously anticipated Burberry Prorsum’s collection for Autumn Winter 2015 had such a deep and joyful hippie vibe to it that it almost felt like Kensington Gardens were hosting a revival of Woodstock and Isle of Wight altogether. The feeling even went up a notch when Clare Maguire started to play live “House of the Rising Sun” and “My Sweet Lord”.
Alongside the traditional trench coats, signature items of the brand, cashmere or suede ponchos and capes were seen throughout the collection, featuring fringes, stitched-in mirrors and afghan embroideries.
Suede, whether fringed, whipstitched or patched, was a recurrent theme in the collection, from capes to skirts, or even to the jaw-droppingly beautiful knee-high boots. Teamed with paisley and floral bohemian prints inspired by Durham quilts, alongside patchwork pieces and camouflage printed lace, the overall silhouette invited us to find peace and love here and now.
Another stunning collection from Chief Creative Officer Christopher Bailey, now in his 11th year of creative direction within the iconic British label.
