Gursha, the Palm Jumeirah’s Award-Winning Restaurant, Has Something for Everybody

Dig the food. Dig the music. Dig the vibe. Dig the art. Dig the culture. Dig the people. Dig in at Gursha.

Despite the fact that many establishments claim to be traditional, it can be challenging to find truly authentic flavours in Dubai. That’s where Gursha comes in. The Ethiopian restaurant on the Palm Jumeirah celebrates all things authentically African. From eating with your hands to gyrating your entire body in the traditional style of dance, Gursha is a truly immersive experience. All you have to do is “Dig it, and dig in.”

The name itself is an endearing term in Amharic, Ethiopia’s native language, meaning ‘to feed another with one’s own hands.’ Ethiopian dining is involved, intimate, and about sharing memorable moments. That in and of itself should shed some light on the type of restaurant this is – a contemporary, chic, intimate dining experience, that’s social, nourishing, and uplifting.

Traditionally Ethiopian with a contemporary tiki-bar club feel, Gursha has its own app allowing customers to reserve tables, earn loyalty rewards, and even receive a free gift just for downloading it!

The standard of food along with its style is incomparable in Dubai. In acknowledgement of this, Gursha has just claimed the honours in ‘The Pro Chef’ Middle East 2017 competition, winning the African Speciality Chef segment. And if that wasn’t enough, Gursha’s beachside location on the Palm Jumeirah with terrace and beach access makes it the ideal location for their ‘FAHN deh Shah’ or “Smiley Girl” Ladies’ Night on Wednesdays, Afro Thursdays serving shisha, beats, and good vibes, Secret DJ nights where guests choose the music via an app, Friday’s NOHR Beach Brunch, and SAHK Saturdays where you do what makes you smile.
The Menu

Gursha’s menu is like the venue itself, traditional in many ways with plenty of added modern-day flair. The food is healthy, designed for sharing, and generally scooped up using the traditional gluten-free bread, Injera. Dishes like grilled beef sautéed in aromatics known as Tibs, hamour tarter in the traditional style, braised kale with beef, or Ethiopian WATs – thick curries with deep caramelized onions in Ethiopian herbs and spices – are not only delicious, but keep the calorie count low. Those not accustomed to watching their waistline can indulge in their modern offerings like burgers and sliders, with an Ethiopian twist.

FDS Ladies’ Nights
‘FAHN deh shah’ literally translated means ‘popcorn,’ but more often it refers to a ‘Smiley Girl,’ and Wednesday’s FDS ladies’ nights at Gursha are definitely something to smile about. Of course, there’s complimentary drinks for the girls, but there’s also Palm Jumeirah beach access for the evening, 2-for-1 main courses from 6 to 11pm, and funky tunes all evening. So, feel the sand between your toes, move to the music, and get ready for the weekend ‘smiley girl!’

NOHR Brunch – You’ve Arrived!
You may be used to brunches, but not quite like this. Gursha knows it can take a bit of stamina to make it through a great brunch, and that’s why on arrival guests are treated to a traditional coffee ceremony for that extra-Ethiopian boost, before the signature beverages are poured.
Ethiopian food is all about getting involved and spending time with others, and Gursha’s sharing platters of starters and desserts help you do just that, while unlimited á la carte mains allow you to indulge in a little greediness – it is brunch after all! Modern and African beats will have your feet moving and free-flowing liquids will keep the party going long into the evening. Dig it & Dig in!

The App
Gursha has its very own mobile app available for android and iPhone which allows guests to avail of exclusive offers, reserve tables, and earn rewards on Gursha’s loyalty program, as well as receive a free welcome gift with every download. Just search ‘Gursha Dubai’ and hit download to get your exclusive offers.
Gursha reflects openness and warmth. Its high-spirited yet casual atmosphere means it’s always real, always social, and always nourishing. The food is involved, hands-on, and intimate. The uplifting beats lighten any mood, and coupled with speciality nights, beach vibes, finger-fulls of Ethiopia’s honest, earthy, and authentic food, it has to be Gursha.
