Roland Mouret showcased his SS19 collection outdoors at the National Theatre. The inspiration was clearly late Seventies, with a splash of Emmanuelle, which the designer listed as a direct inspiration, and a bit of the iconic Claude Chabrol’s French bourgeoise.
The collection featured statement looks for an independent woman who owns her sexuality unapologetically, a mix of loose silhouettes and more tailored power suits, with button-down pencil skirts, ultra-plunging necklines, shoulder baring dresses and high-waisted wide-leg trousers with suggestive lace-up details.
‘Women across the world have found strength through the community of shared experiences. Women are the voice of our society, and this is what I want to express in the collection. Enjoy the show!’ said the designer.
