Molly Goddard – London Fashion Week AW21
Despite all the current restrictions and general gloominess around, Molly Goddard managed to produce once again an exquisitely cheerful collection for AW21.
Her signature oversized tulle and taffeta dresses are present and more exuberant than ever, with bright colours clashing against each other and exaggerated volumes and details. Clashing is indeed a key aspect of the collection, whether it be between fabrics (knits and tulle) or prints (tartan and stripes). The colours are joyful – the neon orange dress is a dream – and the golden platform boots would instantly lift anyone’s mood.
The designer said she was ‘quite fed up seeing leggings and black puffa jackets for walks un he park. Pieces in this collection are for celebrating and enjoying.’
Another key aspect of the collection is about focussing on classic, traditional or even specifically British items of clothing such as tartans or Fair Isle knits, and reinventing them, making them into something new that can be handed over between generations.
