Clements Ribeiro London Fashion Week SS2012
It was an utterly feminine and delicate collection that opened the second day of London Fashion Week with a supreme use of paisley prints on silk.
The inspiration came from the notion of the ‘sixties uniform’ albeit in a much more romantic package.
The London label (which has been back showing in London for a 3rd consecutive season) presented a collection that revised sunny memories of hot lengthy summers past on the country side. Light silk shirt dresses and shorts with matching vests and overlaid lace set the tone for a well thought out and put together ss12 collection.
The husband and wife design duo’s girly vision for spring was brought back modernity through it’s careful styling. The dishevelled slightly Brigitte bardot-esque hair felt organic and evoked a contemporary retro vibe, that London does very well.
The Spring / Summer12 Clements Ribeiro girl is a cool uptown girl with a sporty edge that seamlessly mixes cool cashmere knits in candy stripes of blue, fuchsia, and green with delicate flower and paisley print skirts. She loves a bit of patchwork and an optical illusion or two.
An exercise in modernising traditional feminine elegance, without compromising sophistication or entering the more expected route of the bourgeois.
