Hublot and Takashi Murakami launch a collection of 13 unique watches and 13 NFTs
The famous Swiss watch manufacturer Hublot and the Japanese artist Takashi Murakami have presented their fourth joint art project. The collection includes thirteen watches and thirteen unique NFTs, all adorned with the smiling flower, the emblem of Murakami’s work.
The thirteen NFTs are inspired by the Japanese audiovisual landscape of the 1970s, while the thirteen Classic Fusion watches evoke the smiling flower by representing one of its petals each. The flagship model of the collection is the Classic Fusion Takashi Murakami Black Ceramic Rainbow, featuring a gradient gemstone dial and a clever ball bearing system. This watch is powered by the Unico manufacture movement and offers a power reserve of 72 hours.
The launch of this collection is scheduled for Watches & Wonders 2023 in Geneva, where twelve of the thirteen watches will be offered for purchase exclusively online on a dedicated platform, accessible only to holders of the 324 NFTs issued in April 2022 as part of the third collaboration between Hublot and Takashi Murakami. Transactions will be allowed on OpenSea, a decentralized marketplace dedicated to the buying and selling of NFTs.
Collectors interested in the new models will have time to acquire one of the NFTs available on OpenSea, as the sale will not begin until April 2023. The lucky owners of the twelve unique and unreleased watches will receive one of the twelve exclusive NFTs. In April 2024, the collector who manages to collect all twelve unique NFTs will have the opportunity to acquire the thirteenth and most coveted watch, or Hublot will auction the timepiece to raise money for charity.
By combining the art of fine watchmaking with digital art, Hublot and Takashi Murakami take the timepiece as a work of art to a new level. Hublot’s philosophy of “Be First, Unique and Different” finds a new expression in this innovative artistic collaboration.
