Osman S/S 2011 – London Fashion Week

A very austere dress,  monastic almost, opened Osman’s Spring/Summer 2011 show on Saturday. Simplicity has always been a key word for the designer, with clean lines, perfect tailoring and neutral tones, but Osman Yousefzada surpassed himself in this collection, adding a more relaxed yet very chic touch to his silhouettes.

Patent cream leather trapeze dresses and woven brown linen tunics offered an interesting contrast with the dark flared trousers that featured throughout the collection. The palette seemed at first very Autumn/Winter like, with a dominant presence of terracotta shades and navy blue, but the designer played with colours, unveiling sudden bursts of block colours, apple greens, hot pinks, sunny yellows, either as a flash of light on a dark tailored dress or used as a monochrome statement, like on the sleek yellow dress or the green double-tiered dress.

Another highlight of the collection included the asymmetric dresses in organic denim, offering perfect tailoring and effortless chic.
