Jaeger A/W11 – London Fashion Week

The Jaeger show was a fest of autumnal bright colours, navy and petrol blues, venetian and rusty reds, military greens but also mustard and fushias, all teamed with black for contrast. In an ocean of neutral colours, Jaeger’s Autumn/Winter 2011-2012 collection is almost like a David Hockney’s pool painting – and that feels good.

This exuberance of block colours find a perfect support in the oversized shapes, wool sweaters, silk blouses, but also on details such as the thin belts, clutches or shoes. The silhouette is quite loose, but structured by belts or military shoulder straps. One of the key features of the collection is undoubtedly the use of textured knitwear, with mohair, cashmere or wool jerseys.

The inspiration for this heritage themed collection has been found in the archives of the iconic house, and there definitely is a certain je ne sais quoi of timeless elegance about it, while remaining very contemporary. Winter coats, a Jaeger signature, can be found in different shapes and styles, including a stunning oversized maxi-coat.
