PPQ SS12 - Settimana della moda di Londra

Called ‘Heirloom Blues’, PPQ’s collection for Spring/Summer 2012 was everything but depressing. It all started very quietly with quite classical outfits and pastel – yet gorgeous – tones when suddenly, on a particularly pumping soundtrack of 90’s classics, the catwalk was set on fire.  It turned into an outburst of colourful prints, denim micro shorts, slick, platinum blonde hair, large capeline hats and Zorro masks as sunglasses – in other words, Paris Hilton on a shopping spree in Beverly Hills. Deeply funny and enjoyable, the collection is also very feminine with diaphanous layers of silk chiffon declined in a delicate palette of pastels, body-hugging skirts and jeans, curve-embracing dresses and an overall touch of vulgarity chic, the privilege of women who don’t take themselves too seriously.
The label celebrated their 10 years of fashion week in style and looked back even further, exploring the roots of the brand and notably the PPQ crest. Amy Molyneaux and Percy Parker, the designer duo, used this crest as a print on satin pyjamas suits and boxer short shorts. PPQ also collaborated with Lee to create a new and very inspiring denim range.
