On Thursday night, Hugo Boss Canada hosted a media-only presentation of Hugo Boss’ Fall/Winter 2011 Collection.  Held on the top floor of their luxurious downtown Toronto store at 83 Bloor Street West, the presentation offered a comprehensive look at a selection of men’s and women’s picks from the BOSS Black, BOSS Selection, BOSS Orange, and BOSS Green collections.  Above is video of the presentation and interview with Dawn Bellini, Director of PR & Marketing for Hugo Boss Canada giving It’s All Style To Me a brief synopsis of the FW11 collections.  Here is an overview of the menswear for each of the Boss FW11 lines, with highlights of some of the key pieces you might want to look for come next fall.
BOSS BlackLuxury Voyage is the inspiration for a 20th century influenced, distinctively masculine collection anchored in classic tailoring and streamlined cuts.  Muted grey, beige, brown, and black dominate the colour palette of wool and wool blends for clean, fitted, monochromatic look.  For FW11, a modern take on the three-piece suit is at the forefront of the collection in single-breasted, two-button with slim trousers.  A guy can never go wrong with a BOSS Black suit.  I should know, I own three.   Loving the herringbone patterned wear and FW10 carryover trend of Fair Isle patterns as well.  Top picks include the rabbit fur collared wool/cashmere coat, the two-button suits, the double-breasted wool/angora Glen plaid coat, the Fair Isle and flora print scarves, the blue shawl-collared knit cardigan, and the tanned horseskin and black calfskin white fur-lined boots.

HUGO By Hugo Boss:  Although not on display during the presentation, It’s All Style To Me reviewed the HUGO FW11 Collection as part of Berlin Fashion Week coverage back in January of this year.  Artistic Tailoring was the inspiration for a collection that drew inspiration from the urban and underground art scenes.   Classic tailoring excellence meets creative detailing and directional styling in a restrained palette of black meets white, camel and grey, with accents in HUGO red throughout.  Belt-cinched cardigans, vivid red sweaters, a grey three-buttoned suit, eggplant turtlenecks, red shoes, a patent leather jacket, a shearling coat, and a signature red sweater and suit were some of the strongest pieces of the FW11 HUGO men’s collection.

BOSS Selection: Elegant Crime Cinema and the striking style of the underworld dandy headline the FW11 BOSS Selection Collection.  This luxury line is a mix of tailored fashion, sportswear, and evening wear.  Sporting a new logo, the collection features traditional jackets and blazers with rounded shoulders, narrow arms, and high lapels for a distinctively modern silhouette.  Muted colours and tone-in-tone combos in black, browns, beige, off-white, and deep blue are prevalent in a collection that created from the most luxurious of fabrics.  Highlights of the line include the off-white cotton/cashmere corduroy suit, the knitwear, the lamb leather jackets, the velvet shawl-collared tuxedos in chocolate and midnight blue, the lined denim jeans, the quilted nylon down jackets, and all the accessories including their bags and footwear.

BOSS Orange:  For FW11, Hugo Boss’ Orange line takes us on a trip to Old Amsterdam.  The historic buildings, an abandoned villa with pealing wallpaper, and a nearby woods – all inspirations for a very cool, vintage looking collection.  Warmer shades of brown and beige, grey, pistachio, and night-shadow blue command a palette of washed, dyed, and sprayed fabrics for an authentic used look with vintage character.  Plaid and denim button-downs, the brown cowhide leather biker jackets, an oversized cotton/alpaca Jacquard pullover and cardigan, a pair of brushed calfskin brogues, and a funky plaid weekend bag are must-haves from this collection.

BOSS Green:  Not just for golfers, Boss’s premium sportswear label ‘Green’ finds inspiration in the classic style and tradition of Ivy League wear.  Taped seams, ultra-light water-repellent material, 3-D printed T-shirts with their own glasses make for some interesting utilitarian looks.  The palette is based on shades of grey and beige along with black, with bright splashes of burnt-orange, Turkish tile blue, Boss’ deep forest green, burgundy red, and bright yellow throughout.  Keep an eye out for the Jacquard cardigan and sweater, their casual coloured trousers, glossy patent cowhide sneakers, metallic blue and burgundy coloured puffy vests and jackets, the sports bags, and one killer red quilted Jotto jacket.
So many great pieces to choose from.  I’m eagerly looking forward to finding some of my favourites from the Men’s Hugo Boss FW11 Collections in stores later this year.  Their Spring/Summer 2011 looks are pretty impressive as well.  For more photos from of the Hugo Boss Fall/Winter 2011 Presentation held in Toronto please visit the It’s All Style To Me Facebook Page.
