Berluti presents its Spring 2021 collection

Graphic silhouettes, vibrant colours and a sense of ease bring a sunny disposition to Berluti’s latest collection.

High in energy and lively shades, Berluti’s spring 2021 collection is an ode to the Maison’s artisanship and know-how. Inspired by his recent work of reupholstering and restoration – with patinated Berluti Venezia leather – of Pierre Jeanneret’s original furniture from the Le Corbusier-designed Indian city of Chandigarh, Creative Director Kris Van Assche has created a palette of earthy reds, lively blues and deep purples reminiscent of the natural colours found in the Northern Indian state of Punjab.

Shapes are generous and graphic, with structured shoulders and long tapered or pleated trousers. Worn over colourful second skin turtleneck tops, oversized, short-sleeved shirts are striped or printed over silk with a paisley motif blended with Berluti’s logo. Suits give a subtle nod to the 1970’s through double-breasted jackets and houndstooth or Prince of Wales fabrics. Berluti’s logo and crest are overblown over cotton jacquard sweaters, and knitted polo shirts combine stripes and motifs in audacious colour mixes.

This season, a dozen of the ready-to-wear collection pieces will be available in smaller sizes so as to give women the possibility of picking and choosing their favourite pieces from the Berluti man’s wardrobe.

Leather is patinated in striking tones inspired by Jeanneret’s patinas: an exceptionally soft bonded nubuck leather shirt takes on a lively Shaded Orange colour. A calfskin blouson and pair of trousers in Shaded Blue include classic denim details, creating a trompe-l’oeil effect. A down parka with a Brown Ebano patina blurs the lines between tradition and modernity. And a grained deer duffle coat has a shaded effect around the edges. Elsewhere, a shearling-lined aviator blouson features patina leather trims, and a B-Way jacket in lambskin is treated to obtain an ultra-supple nylon effect.

Featured shoes include the new Twist, an update on the aesthetics of a classic Boat shoe from its lugged outsoles to its leather lacing and apron stitching; and Pulse, a New Wave-inspired sneaker mixing nylon details and a thick, sporty rubber outsole with flashy colour streaks with staples of Berluti’s DNA, including bootmaker hand stitching’s and Vitello and Venezia leather. Meanwhile, the emblematic Stellar sneaker takes things back to basics with its essentialist attitude, minimalist details and pure lines.

Berluti’s Signature canvas highlights this season’s bag collection. Present in models including Ulysse, the Forever tote, the Trek messenger, the Nino clutch and the Explorer backpack, the motif brings a sense of versatility to Berluti’s emblematic bags. Venezia leather handles, straps and details, patinated in unexpected shades of purple, orange, red and ochre, add a flashy twist to the pieces. The brand-new lodge line uses a casual, adaptable beige canvas as a backdrop for an overblown Berluti logo print.

Featured more prominently than ever this season, the logo also makes an appearance embossed in Venezia leather bags including Un Jour, Miles and Playtime, complete with the brand-new Utopia Blue patina.

The Spring 2021 collection is currently available in Berluti stores worldwide.
